This open-access module provides potential students and others interested in OFIBC's offerings with a sampling of the types of learning resources and activities included in OFIBC online courses.
This is the first course that most OFIBC students will take. It provides an overview of organic soil management principles, and useful basic knowledge on soil chemistry, soil properties and types, nutrient cycles, organic matter and soil testing.
This course is a follow-up to ORG 101 and focuses on effective soil management principles and practices on organic farms. Four key areas are covered: soil cultivation, green manure crops, using compost and manures, and the use of acceptable inputs. The course concludes with a final module on how to plan for and meet the challenges of transitioning to organic practices.
